How to play with that THING

How to convert or sculpt a miniature? How to make a decent base or even a full diorama?!

the wolfen looks good, with a nice base...(i like the flowers a lot) the sword seems a bit too flat and grey

to me the tyranid idea is not bad but i don't like the 2 spinefists beacuse they're too big for the mini and the added talons because they look clumsy :)

The wulfen looks very nice... but his base is too high. The rock also looks to straight, like it's not a natural rock, but a stone stolen from stonehenge
2 bad for the base, because the mini is nice!

i don't really like the tyranid. The paintijob is nice, but somethings wrong with it. Can't put my finger on it though.

ad first base... exactly my feelings :)

Ad second mini the wrong is that you do not see that move that kill poor IG. Tyranid look static, mini is too fragile. And gore effects on most miniatures are ugly. Its hard to paint somebody moment of death :)

i think the owner of the first mini thought to a very high base to empatize the "watchman" feeling...i agree that the rock has not a real look

the wolfen's base looks too artificial to me. too civilized.

the 'nid idea is nice, but it was done like a 'matrix' scene. or simply was overdone...

I don't like the wolfen base for two reasons:
1) it's too high
2) you can clearly see it's made out of insulation foam, and that a knife was used for the texture.

But I really like the Tyranid, one hell of a conversion :)

The base on the first photo is just unreal. Better efect could be achived by adding a real rock that size. And it could be a little smaller.

The tyranid on the second photo looks like he is walking on air and he accidently kicked a poor soldier on the head :) A diffrent pose and it would look much better.

About the Wolfen: It's painted nicely but the base just won't do! It is too high and looks too handmade.

The Tyranid: Not my cup of tea but a good conversion that requires some skill.

The last one: Looks okay and is definitly a piece for showing and not playing. (after looking again, they all are really!)
