painting my Dark Apostle

Hey guys, I'm little stuck on how I should go about mixing a paint for highlighting my Word Bearer Dark Apostle. I don't have pics but needless to say I've base coated him Vallejo Burnt Cadmium Red. It's a shade close to GW's Scab Red, but it's still a little darker. To lighten it up for highlights should i mix in some khaki/bleached bone colour, or a colour with a more orange tint like blood red or blazing orange. This Cad. Red is very ruddy and brownish. I'll try to get a pic, but as I'm out and about right now, it wont be until later on

I have used Vallejo leather red mixed with the Cadmium red as a next step highlight and then added more leather red, then went with the khaki mix. I don't have a picture handy of how it looks, but just thought I would add my suggestion. Hope it helps.
