arctica wrote: I like the NMM alot but i think with the hammer and shield guy that the highlights on shoulder pads should be moved towards the front of the model more imo, to coincide with your light source, but i may be looking at it wrong.

Arctica: yes it would be better :) It is a stupid mistake.
On the guy with the sword probably I didn't have courage to take a challenge and do something interesting with the stomach.
But the guy with the hammer is a completely silly thing, I should have seen that.
Thanks for suggestion :rose:

Im glad i can offer some helpful comments at least, i think with the sword guy, depending on what you did, could have been overwhelmed with detail and i like the way he is. Anyway the points i picked out are very minor things, i think the unit is really cool.

I was thinking that for having a thread like this I would only need to steal good pictures there and there...
Ana, your works are astonishing. Clean, full of character and charisma...
A lot to learn from you.

Holy hell your work is stunning, absolutely inspirational. I have said this many times but I absolutely despise nmm in general. Yours however is among the few examples that just leave me speechless. While I may not like the style of nmm in general seeing a piece done like that dreadnought and the Harlequin, I have to admit I am impressed. Wow, just ... wow.

Thanks for so many compliments ... I still wish that you will expect more from me. Sometimes small detail can change all, can't it?

That happened with my next work.
I painted it for a guy who had all the concept in his head. I had to try to understand it with all details - it is hard to stand up to this.

almost all the time when I was painting I was worried because so many different colors on one base didn't look good together.
When I started I hoped that the gold NMM in freehands will merge the gargoyle with the elf.
But it wasn't enough :? on the end of work, when I glued the head of gargoyle, I had an idea to add the colors to the freehand on the scarf. IMHO that was the detail which merged these two schemes of colors (of the gargoyle and the elf)

Look at this:

When I finished I was so tired with the pressure that I had to paint something simple

but this is a different story :silenced:

This is the first piece of yours Ana which has made me think hmmm. The execution of techniques is done superbly as always and the painting itself is flawless but personally i really don't like the gargoyle, i think the fiery effect of the model spoils the whole look for me and makes the gargoyle's features feel lost. Maybe it's just the model of the gargoyle? or the camera angles but the guy with the sword i really like and the freehand is lovely on him. As a scene goes it's pretty darn cool tho and the whole concept is nice.

Thanks man :)

@ arctica: In the PL section we are thinking about the same :blackeye: Sculpture of gargoyle is too complex for this complex freehand lava effect. This does not work - doesn't looks good on photos, but fortunately for my client :) in real, this efect looks clean.

I didn't expect that the mini after paintwork will be so difficult in waching/understanding.
Sad, but worth remembering about.

I completely agree with Arctica here. Nothing wrong with the techniques used but as a whole it just doesn't work.

It did take a few viewings fo the gargoyle to realize that his head had been separated from his shoulders and that was what was confusing me. Other than that everything else everyone said about the freehand and colours used on the hero goes the same for me. :)
