Some of the best weathering I've ever seen on that Sentinel (?)
I'm not that impressed by little red riding hood and the wolf. The monochromatic painting on the girl is nice but on the wolf it looks a bit 'sloppy'.

Automaton's fig is technically perfect, but the colors on most of his works are almost the same. I would like to see something with completely different colors from him :)

SirJD's giant looks 'computer enhanced' to me... :?: I'm not sure so I'll keep my comment for myself

I saw this one at our GD, and I actually took these photos myself hehe...I can promise you that it's not comptuer-enhanced or photoshopped or anything like that. It's actually my fault if it looks that way, for taking the dodgy, slightly blurry photos!!

It was a really brilliant figure though - perfectly smooth painting everywhere. Plus the painter, Jamie, is a very young guy...only 17 I think. So he deserves some support.

hehe ok...I don't want to be defensive, but I'm interested in what you mean. Take a look at the last 10 minis I've submitted on CMON - I admit that the 'chevalier des baronnies' and 'lathiem' use pretty similar colours - but are the rest really so similar...? I do tend to use both warm and cool colours on most of my figures - is that what you mean...? I respect your opinion, absolutely - I'm jsut interested to find out what you mean, so that I can think about it and maybe try to change it! :D

Oh and btw, the sentinel is actually mine haha, thanks for those kind words - you can better pics on my site, here: https://www.guildofharmony.com/GWsentinel.php

I know his other minis and they are all good ones. That's why I kept my mouth kind off shut. I didn't mean to be offensive at all, I'm just pointing out how the pics look to me.

What I mean is when I see one of your figs, I almost immediatly know it's yours because of the colors used in combination with your light placement.
Typically the colors are something in the line of a turquoise blue + a light tan/brown. Also on the metallics a reddish brown color + a turquoise color... and you combine that with a zenithal effect.
Figs like urmuth, brom, lathiem, the cavalier etc come to mind :) Maybe also the last Pegaso fig. (can't really check at work)

I know it's also your style of painting and that is your choice. Just sometimes I think you could have changed the direction of the light maybe... or go for a different atmosphere??

Don't get me wrong btw, I'm not trying to bash you or anything. I love your works and you're one of the most friendly and accessible toppainters out there... but the eye wants some variation from time to time ;)
And there are a lot of artists that also have their typical style and preferred colors... so I could say the same about their figs.

Guess I'm just being difficult again :)

EDIT: on a sidenote.... your sentinel is completly different. I wouldn't have guessed it was yours :D

Yeah ok, I see what you're getting at. That turquoise colour - damn I love it so much, it's hard to stop myself using it when I'm painting! It's my favourite, haha...can you tell?

yeah, you're absolutely right here - I know I should try some different lighting directions. I spent a long time studying hwo to do the zenithal light, and now that I feel like I'm starting to get it, I've been getting carried away haha  Ok, I'll try to make sure I do a project in the near future with some sort of more interesting lighting direction! I need to make a mark in my diary or calendar or something haha...

Thanks for explaining though Tomaz. When I posted that comment, I was worried that I might come across the wrong way, being defensive...but I was really just interested. I like to get different opinions, and I absolutely believe that everyone can have something legitimate and useful to say about all the minis we see online. It doesn't matter if someone is a so-called 'master painter' or just a regular person interested in minis - everyone has a different perspective, and something good to offer I think.

Wow, you've been busy Sebastian! :)

The Sentinel is yours?! (missed the name ther) Wouldn't have guessed but it is one of the best painted Sentinels I've seen so far.
How is your sculpting coming along?

I agree. You can really take steps forward if you get some good constructive critisism, regardless of who is giving it :) Too bad detailed C&C isn't often given... I'm guilty of this too for different reasons.

I hope I didn't sound too harsh in my first post btw. I didn't mean to say you absolutely need to change your painting ways... I like/love your figs, but I also like diversity and I'm glad that you reacted to my post so I could explain it a bit :)

@Sebastian: Now that was one of the more interesting issues raised every now and then - while I don't really mind repetetive use of the same or similar palettes, some people would like to see some changes. And it was interesting to read your opinion, Sebastian. Especially that you were not defensive at all. I really like to read such discussions. Thanks guys!

The sentinel is surely VERY different and really EXCELLENT. Great stuff, as admirable as it gets. I lve the shattered window!

@ToMaZ - you know the legend about the battle of Grunwald/Tannenberg in 1410? The rumor has it that the grand master of Teutonic knights sent two bare swords to the Polish king and Lithuanian prince to encourage them to combat. If you want Sebastian to use different colors, why don't you send him a few ;) ;)
