'Proper' Smooth Basing.
Guys, did you miss the winking smiley under my post?? I was mildly ironic...
What I meant was that people often think there's some secret in miniature painting that 'masters' try to hide and not share. Just like alchemists or priests of old.
But usually there's just some simple technique, and more time and patience - that's all the secret knowledge there is.
And some tips from others can just save you some time
Is it how you understood me, Trov?

i knew the talent argument would come. i grant that argument as far as some manage to do it faster and some need more time (both to learn and to execute). but i dont consider myself extremely talented (nor anywhere above average) and i still think everything is possible with observation, time and carefull execution.Nameless wrote:I don't agree Trov. Much - probably true. Everything - don't believe in it.Trovarion wrote:but its easyjust takes time and care. everything in miniature hobby can be done with those two
but that's rather a discussion for completely different threadDon't to steal this one
ofc. you gotta be open eyed and open minded - and you need the desire to keep going/patience ofc.
if you go at it "i dont have the talent to do that" way you already lost.
first on topic...
Nope Corvus doesnt look cutted...besides its said on spanish "filled" not cutted . But even if nothing was said the filled with sandpaper "ingredients" are all there to see...
Now offtopic yay.
The talent / art discussion is completely diferent form this discussion since painting minis isnt art its a discipline and a very very limited constrained one... not much you can create... You can disagree but i dont care
Comtemporany people all think of themselves of uber artists
Its cool!even if they are are artsy as a concrete brick.
Painting some little 28 pre made statues or sculpting them... doesnt involve artistic talent... just knowledge gained by experience and aquired technique... its a very limited discipline.
In the past when people didnt know nothing or were cutted down from WWW school maybe just the more art sensitive folks could uncover this disciplin techiques.. but today its all here for everyone and it just takes dedication to master this discipline..
Some just need to dedicate more than others, some are smarter than others some learn faster than others etc...

@Trov - you know my opinion. Of course you can learn and improve by practice and hard work. At the same time all of us have individual characteristic (call it talent if you wish), that determines how 'far' we can go with anything - mini painting, sports, cooking, math...
@Nav - of course, you don't need artistic (craft) talent for painting or sculpting. Driving skills are much more useful for these
