I don't really like the sculpt but wanted to paint something easy and straightforward. To get away from Airtis for a bit.
This fig was done yesterday evening in 2hrs... maybe 2h30. Which is exceptionally fast for me.
Skin still needs some work.
And I don't know what to do for a base. I was thinking abot some stairs or something. Marble stuff maybe..

Colors on the cloth:

Base of P3 Thornwood green.
Shade: VMC Dark Sea Blue
Highlights: VMC Ice Yellow.

Colors on the skin so far:

Base VMC Brown Rose + dark sea blue.
Shade: more dark sea blue
Highlights Base + Ice yellow.

Metallics (not done)

Base: Boltgun + dark sea blue
Shade: More dark sea blue
Highlights: boltgun + ice yellow and mithril silver.

Don't like the sculpt, too.
Well, I don't like it at all... One of the worse HD releases I think...

Bear in mind I have a mediocre LCD screen now, so my impression may be wrong, but I think the deepest shadows should be even deeper. On the other hand I know it was supposed to be a fast and relaxing work.

And you're right - that's very fast! I need to increase my speed to be able to finish anything...

I don't like the sculp too
I suggest trying to do something with metallics as they look flat.

Thanks :)

Mahon: Do you mean the shadows on the skin? or in general? Because those in the cloth are pretty deep (almost pure blue) The skin is weaker than I thought. And I allready was planning to do some deeper shadows :)

Galharen: yeah the metallics aren't done yet. I blocked in some areas for shading, highlighting and added some colors. They still need some work :)

And about the sculpt... it was a gift from a friend. Might as well paint it to please him a bit :) he knows I hate the sculpt but it was the fig he comes with that he wanted to give me at first. (Butchery type fig)

it looks good for 2.5h of painting. Still, I won't even bother to compare it to Airtis shown above :)
I believe Mahone covered all 'drawbacks' on this mini, so I won't repeat his his comments.

Good! I would be sad if a 2.5 hrs model would be compareable to a model where I put a lot more effort in :D

@ Demi: Thanks. I'm pretty pleased with the robes too :)

for me there's a problem of contrast on the robe, add some point of light on the top of the rob, add in the shadow some other color like red melted with black in the deepest shadow, to give live to this floating clothe

you skin generaly is too clear, try, may be, to let the torso and the head bright and do the rest of the carnation in a darker color
it will focus the eyes on the important place of the mini, and give you a halo climate around these part, giving by the way a celestial effect

ok, now you can shoot me  :gun:

No honestly, I allways hope for comments like this one :)
The HellDorado fig was supposed to be simple, but I'd like to try out your tips to see how they work!
Thanks :)
