Believe me, for me its just the fun factor but as nameles said prizes can make things more interesting for some.
I do need to get some sponsors from stores around here ( if only i had more time for this) But the general idea is that at the end of every year we look at rankings of painters ( thats is established by the participation and qualification on every painting tournament we organize) and the overall winner of that year gets a juicy prize.
At least thats the plan.
We do not have officialy GW in Portugal so no Golden deamon statues to make things apealing to painters Demi...
The good thing is our painting comps can accept any kind of mini from any company and rules are controled by us.
Also theres always the distance problem for most competitions ( people will not walk 300km just for painting comps) so most competitions will be online since we want to reach full Portugal but 1 or 2 major national competions ( like GTS) that we get mingled in will be more traditional
This is the plan for 2008 I just hope people enjoy it and bring some colors to portuguese comunity wich are 99% pure gamers.
And its good to see that in GTS NO unpainted unabased or proxies was allowed for all games... so lots of full armys painted.... wich means theres people ready to paint here.
