quick-ish Warmachine minis

Post by LadyEyes »

Ok, so again I've painted stuff for other people for free. These were some very fast jobs I did for a friend that needed help with a large job.

Not my best, but a lot better than I expected for the amount of time on each.

They look a lot smoother in person, and these photos were fast pics taken late last night. They still need dull coate, but otherwise are pretty much finished.

Comments, especially about things I could improve on future work, are welcome. But these are pretty much done ... unless you see something horrible.

for fast jobs they are great.

Pic 1 i think the mini is well balanced color wise the only thing i would change were the white lens color because it is very similar to hair... perhaps you could paint it like gems or something.

Pic 2 the cape is awesome love it ,the thing i think it could be done in quick time is just introducing another bright brown color to some of the parts of the all brown armour and details...

Pic 3 blues not so good as first one... clean a bit the sword on his back and its done  love the facial expression and the unshaved face detail.

how much time did you spent on each one?
Keep up the good work.

I like the blue armor on Nemo better than Caine's, but they are all pretty good. I'd be proud to have them in my army.

The one improvement I'd make is Eiryss. Her face always looks like it has been grabbed at the ears and stretched to the side. Which is really a problem with the sculpt, and not your painting. THe only solution I can think of is to blackline it more on the sides of the face. Not sure how well that would turn out. In any case, the side shots look fine.

They look very good. I love the cloak on Eiryss. Milkman (:P) was right on the face. But you did a fine job on it.
Caine's armour is as mentioned, not from the same level as Nemo's armour. Still good for fast painting. His cloak looks very good too. And I love the unshaven look.
And Nemo looks very good IMO. Just change his lenses ;)

Good work LE :)

The shading looks good on the mini's but I would like to see more highlights on them. (some of the outer edges would benefit greatly from some sharp highlights...) The color schemes are great and in harmony! Great work Tanya for such fastly painted miniatures! Wished you'd live here, you could paint my miniatures too! ;)

P.s. The bases need some work though! :P

looks mighty good for fast paintjobs. The only main messy bit is the metalics on the 3rd guys back.

Nothing more I can add except my kudos on such nicely painted miniatures in such a short time span.

Thanks folks!

The lenses on Nemo are actually silver. I had them a pink/red color (can't imagine why ;) ), but the person painting the rest of the army didn't like them. So I did black frames with silver lenses instead. It did improve the contrast of the facial features.

I made Caine's armor darker because I was told that Nemo's armor looked a little too light for this person's taste. Go figure. So I kept it darker... I don't care for it as well as Nemo's but its not my army. I agree the backpack thing was a quick, messy job. I ran out of time and energy Wednesday night. It looks a little better live, but it could still use plenty of work. Oh, well. Its free - how much can they complain? I loved his coat/cloak, but then had to put the big, clunky sword on top of it. I hate the sword, but there it is.

I meant to go back and add some lighter brown highlights to Eiryss's armor but just plain forgot. (Did I mention it being late?) I appreciate the advice of what to do with the edges of her face. I had no clue what to try. Next time I get a similar problem I have an idea. :D I was just happy I got her eyes to be fairly decent.

Nothing is based because the person doing the rest of the army is doing all the bases to match. Unfortunately the minis were already attached to the bases, so I had to live with it. :censored: Oh, well... :)

Thanks for the tips, folks. I'll hopefully put them to good use in the future.
