Morgwen the Bloody - finished!

Post by Ritual »

The mini is finished now! Please, feel free to comment or criticise! I'm not too happy with the photos, I might add. I feel some of the subtle shading on the skin is lost... :(

I like her 8) Great work!

The red cloth and her skin are the best parts of the mini IMO. The weapons are cool too. Besides the brownlining that's a bit too strong for my taste, there isn't anything I don't like.
And she has a nice base btw...

Again great work!!

Great job, the base is full of character. I have a question though.... What is she holding in her hands? 'Cause I think there is very little contrast between the colours used for it and the skintone and clothing. It doesn't really stand out much...

But good job, that's for sure! :D

the WiP pictures are MUCH better than these shots ! these are abit flat and don't do the mini justice. I've been waiting for the finished pics since you posted it on the WiP board :)

while keeping the better pictures in mind, some comments :

the mini rocks ! your bases are state of the art as usual, they have a great natural feel about them that I am looking to achieve myself :)

the freehand on the skirt is nice and subtle, but imho you should have continued it on the little patches between her legs or a little bit on her skin, to tie the different parts together.

the face is very convincing. Subtle shading, nice reflection on her bald spot and a scary looking eye :D

the only parts I don't like is the weapons. You have a very natural colour scheme going and the weapons just seem to blend into it. I would have gone for a more striking colour, or some blue / purple / smoke mixed glazes to give them a more unique feeling. Apart from that I think it's splendid work !

Ritual, I think about the same as Mordred - the WIP photos were better, or I just liked the colors more.

You really must have some natural knack at making bases because when I sew this one I thought "simple but so effective!", so there must b something about that....

I love the freehand on the clothes, and the way you painted flesh. I just liked the skin color on the WIP photos more....

PS - I hate this sculpt but like it with your paintjob, so you did a good job :D

Thanks for the input! I shall try to fix a few things on it before dullcoating it. I actually forgot to fix the thick brownlining under her stomach... :( I will also tweak the colours on her weapons (or whatever they are) a bit to make the stand out a bit more. Finally I'll try to get better photos! I'll post it here when it's done. Hopefully I'll be able to do it tomorrow.

whats going on in the middle of her back? It looks a bit messy there. One last complain, it looks odd in the front of the cloth bit, that design are on the two parts sticking out but its clean in the inner fold if you know what I mean?

But as they say, the painting is lovely! The design work on the cloth are great and clean. The gold on her thigh is great and the face is super. Great stuff here.
