Bored of the hierophant and somehow not entirely happy with the red terror, i feel like having another go at tyranid creature. With the left overs from the red terror project i've started building a taloned horror...

heavily inspired by the ALIEN, isn't it?
looks very good and is so big that I am only looking forward to seeing it finished

theres actually a concept image of the taloned horrow i'm trying to follow, and the head is quite long and iit has an inner jaw. So yes the concept sketch has features reminiscent of gigers alien.

However once i got the armour plates on top and the scything talons coming out of the sides of the jaw it should make it more tyranidy.

Its sad that here tournaments tables belong to all those Nidzilla tyranids with shooty tyrants and shooty carnifexes. I laways prefer when tyranids look like yours.Close combat monsters FTW!!! Good job!!!

I have one (maybe stupid) question: Does it stand on the tail?
I mean, if it is going to stay at the same angle?

Its going to be leaping, depending what i come up for on the base i'm not sure where to mount it, its likely going to be mounted by the tail or iits right foot.

But yes its going to be at the angle.

Time for an update, still a lot of tidying to do, and i think the head may be too big... good job its not glued. Hmm may have to think about changing it...

This is my fav part, i've layered inards and guts etc underneath the skin and carapace.

This shot you can see the exposed rod, i'm going to hide that with foliage i think, the idea behind the base is the beast leaping over a broodnest, at the base of the nest is a captured marine covered in restraining junk (think aliens) he's there as food for the hatchlings, but as you can see, his last defiant action against the nids is to toss a grenade into the nest... will he do it before the horror jumps on him?

This shot you can see the venom injectors on the sides of its head, i'm not keen on these but they are on the copncept sketch and i have to model them for wysiwyg. Maybe a new head is in order...
