Just starting out (first painted miniatures)

Post by Keylynn.boc »

Hello all...

I joined CoF to hopefully improve my painting skill. I've never painted miniatures before, and i've never been too fond of paint in the first place *hardest medium for me to do when it comes to art classes, they never look good*

I have a link to my first two models that i've done. I've been trying to work out a color scheme for my Slaaneshi beastmen army.

You can see the pictures here *there are several, i didn't think it would be appropriate to post them all in here* I can't take decent pictures ;_;

The musician was just built as a guinea pig model, *but i got lazy, so i didn't strip it and use it over D:... I don't really like how the colors on this model turned out at all, except maybe the bracers, which i used on the next model i painted.

I achieved the pale skintone that i wanted for my army on this model, the only problem is i don't know what to wash it with, so most of the details are lost *sigh* I also like the stark contrast between the dark fur and the pale skin, though i want to pick more detail out for the legs and the fur. I don't know if i should use a black wash or not, as i'm worried it will just fill in all of the detail and everything will be lost.

I didn't paint the weapons or chainmail on this model. The reason for this is that i don't have a metalic paint that i can use for them. The one that i bought was too brown, so i used it on the bracers instead.

If anyone has any suggestions for me they would be greatly apprieciated...I really want to get my army finished but i'm not really comfortable with my ability to paint yet to try and finish them all.
