beast is good idea becouse you can chose scale and anatomy as You like.
Big monster is also good place for try some textures.
I realy like this monster :)

nothing special...just begin to texture the left side of the torso and begin the legs of the right side...of course it not finish...the torso will have more volume and the right side will receive some armour plate and skin texture
