Glowing colors

Post by walga »

Hi!

If've seen the impressive picture and wonder, how the painter gets his colors glowing this way:
https://www.coolminiornot.com/98279
The colors on the banner, at the eyes, at the metal on the base are really intensive and point out the great skill of the painter.
Now the question how it works. Did he use special colors or contrasts? If i brighten the areas on my minis, it gets more soft and not that bright.
Would be great, if you have a clue...or a link to a turourial.

Thanks!

aren't the colours just highlighted to white? Maybe that's not all, but for sure takes a part in the final effect..

anyway, wait for DC here, I'm sure he knows the answer :P

Very helpful tutorial but could somebody translate the glowing eyes effect to red (citadels) and blue, please?

for reds I would start with red gore, and use the technique explained on the tutorial with fiery orange mixed with the red and eventually sunburst yellow and maybe eventually a little bit of white.
That's the way I would try it anyway.

For blue it's pretty easy, just go from dark to light, and you can use white more liberally than when using reds.
