matt varnish

Guys I have a problem with matt varnish. When i was paintig a figure with midnight blue and on the colour i apply several layers of light blue and finaly a white line and then apply a varnish, the white is gone to purple. I do not know why and nobody at czech paintig scene could help me. When I had a old colours there was no problem, but i bought a new ones and problem is here. Sometimes nothing happens and white is still white but it is only few events of many. I tried gw matt varnish and testor dull cote. Do you know where is problem? When i am painting I am tring to avoid midnight blue and i use it only when it is necessarily. Today when i was painting a mini i take note then i put white colour on mixing pallet and under white was dry midnight blue colour /i painted with it yesterday/, the white was going to purple too. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong? I have few good minis what are stiil waitnig for final varnish, but they are painted by midnight blue and i am fear to varnish them. You know i can totally destroy them. HELP!!

I remember I had similiar problems when I was using crappy varnish but since I use vallejo paints + model master varnish everything is just fine

I think Testor Dull Cote is not crappy varnish, amongst czech painters is rate very high, is one on top.

No you didn`t . I only mean Testor is on of best varnish, so problem would be elsewhere.

maybe paints? did You use pactra paints? I've seen that pactra's varnish can destroy colors so maybe paints can be "fragile" for varnishing?

Maybe you have a dodgy can of varnish or the colour and the varnish just don't work well together. Strange, never had this problem myself, but it sure does sound frustrating!

Like Skrit said it's probably a bad can or the paint reacting to the dullcoat. I'd suggest to buy another can (you'll need it eventually anyway :p) and try the two diffrent cans on a painted testpiece.

I heard about this problems. My friend one time has used a Talens varnish, which I had recommended. But then he has used a new bought can on the mini appeared white glaze. After my suggestion he complaint it in art shop. The second can was fine.
This can be caused by many different situations. Maybe can has date expired, or some kind of chemical reaction has placed. Maybe its because you haven`t shaked it well, or just the new can is bad

Try the new can instead of leaving this product at start. This happens also to paints or glues.
Hope you find solution quickly.

Adn my sugestion is: SHAKE VARNISH!!! The second thing is that You can use this trick: First spray the mini with satin varnish (2 coats) and then use matt... I heard that the matt varnish works in a little bit difrent way than the gloss and satin. (Satin and gloss are "coating" mini and the matt is going for some chemical reactions with paint)
