painting scars?

Post by ToMaZ »

heya,

I need a suggestion on what colors to use for scars. They are going to be freehand. (like battle scratches) and I guess I need some blues and purples for the bruised areas. Plus a light skintone I guess and a darker fleshtone for the shade of the scar?

If anyone has any suggestions or examples, please let me know

thnx

if You want to paint "fresh" scars use red color for a wound and than blend it with the skin using diluted reds or purples;
if You want achieve "healed" scars - paint them using highlighted skintone - I have lots of scars and some of them are almost white :)

I go the opposite direction with scars... I tend to mix a little red into the final flesh highlight for the base of the scar, then highlight up from there. Makes it stand out alot more IMO

I'm with Demi, they vary... depends on how old they are, what skin tone it is, etc. I've got olive skin, so mine take a while to fade out. Best I tend to get is a very light pinkish-white if it is still visible.

Oh, and if you're doing bruising, don't forget yellows and browns and greens in the mix if they are fading out. :D

hey thanks everyone...
Personally my own scars go from a deep brown, to pinkish white... (depending on how many times I scratched them open :p)

anyway, I found a nice example of what I want for the scars:

coinsidence is that it's the same miniature too ^^ (I'm painting the full unit) I don't want to add that many scars, just a few. Looks like I need blues, different purple tones. And like LE mentioned, browns yellows and greens...

brrr soo many color, so little space ;)

thanx again
