I always catch so much crap for using my cheap hobby paints, and he won a slayer sword using the same brands! Granted, I don't paint nearly as well as him, but at least I have something to say back to the people that make fun of my paints!

Hah. Don't let it get to you. If you want, I can lend you the sword to back up your claims... Whack somebody with that thing and they'll never make fun of you again.

The B&C is great, but you inevitably get the "bad apple" that tries to make things rough for the other members. I can see where that guy was coming from, though.

I wish I were better at explaining my technique so that I could be of more use to the online community. I often feel that it would make things 100 times easier if I could invite you all over to watch how I paint. I just can't seem to adequately explain what I do...and someone is invariably left going "huh?"

The fact I love about the online communities is that you can talk and explain experiences with people you would never meet in person. If I have the choice of talking online or not talking to them at all - my choice is pretty obvious

Anyway - even the list of the colors and the closeups were of much help to many of us. Great job, Bushido!

Just one more thing - one day, when you won't need THE sword, send it over to me so that I can take a photo of myself with it

don't worry, I think it's impossible to TELL someone how you are painting, you can only teach someone by showing. Of course it also helps when you give the colors and a description, but if the guy you're explaining it to can't imagine/doesn't know there is another way to paint than how he's painting (I often hear "oooh...you paint with the lenght of the brush, not the tip...?!" when I explain/show people) then he probably won't imagine that...

(Sorry, it's early morning and I'm not awake yet )

e.g. when people ask me: how are you painting NMM on weapons...? I can't just say "I use wetblending" or "I use layering" to paint the gradient, because it is a more dynamic way of painting, I just use whatever I need in the given situation...
