Wyrd Painting Contest: Total Testosterone 2006

It's once again time to kick things off with another contest, our second out of four sponsored contests for the year. We've decided to return to a popular theme that we had last year about this time and will be making this a return event for some time to come, along with some other fun themes here later in the year.

Overwhelming muscles, the need for a big weapon and the underlying instinct to show off for the fairer sex? If the answer is yes, then your miniature is more than qualified for the Total Testosterone painting contest!

The contest will run from May 8th through June 18th and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.

Due to the theme, your miniature must be male, and to be more specific, a human or humanoid type. Examples are: Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, centaurs, male vampires, ogre bulls, WWII cyber-zombies ... etc. The list is rather long and and open, but if you should question it, please contact me and I will give you a final decision upon it.

You cannot enter anything that can be defined as a critter or monster (no remote resemblance to a human), and that includes badgers, dragons, stone trolls, demons, skeletons (even if they have the proper amount of ribs!), etc. Although you could argue that the creature is male, that is for another contest down the road and I don't wish to mix themes.

The specific rules for the contest can be found on the Wyrd Miniatures website on the forums under 'Wyrd Painting Contest: Rules and Information'. I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as folks tend to miss them for some reason and they end up misunderstanding the contest, the theme or disqualify themselves.

The categories for the contest are:

ALTERNATIVE: The men that just don't seem to fit anywhere else in the categories. Cowboys, naval officers or chainsaw wielding postal works (okay, that last one wasn't funny - really!)

DEADLY DUEL: A diorama with two or more combatants locked in combat or something equally disturbing. Atleast one miniature must be male.

FANTASY: Sword wielding barbarians, magic casting magicians, deadly muscled assassins ready to draw you blood. If the miniature is pure fantasy, this is his category.

SCI-FI: Gun blazing street samurai of the deadly future or weapon wielding aliens dancing a song of death or perhaps a steampunked necromancer plying his disgusting trade. A wide range of miniatures will fit nicely into this category.

Once again we have been very fortunate with the number of sponsors that have chosen to provide support packages for the contest. Thank you very much for your time and efforts and I encourage everyone to let them know your appreciation! The contest sponsors are, in no particular order:

Wyrd Miniatures, Wyvern Games, Hasslefree Miniatures, Assassin Miniatures, Eastern Front Studio, Freebooter Miniatures, M.S.B. Toys, Privateer Press, Crunch Waffle Miniatures, Magnificent Egos, Mars Ultor, Lance and Laser, Black Scorpion Miniatures, Goodman Games, Revelation Miniatures, Black Hat Miniatures, Testors, Impact! Miniatures, Iron Wind Metals, Exodus Road Hobbies and Game Forces Magazine

We hope to add many more sponsors in the near future as decisions are made or folks are able to relax just a bit after all the conventions that are coming up or have just finished. If you would like to support the contest, please feel free to contact me.

I am once again looking forward to a great contest as tney seem to be getting bigger and better with each passing due to your participation and the sponsors. Thank you! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

A link to the rules and your Web site would be helpful to folks. :)

An update to the rules/categories. This has been something that has plagued me from the first contest and has already started to pop up with the announcement of this one.

Update to categories:

MONSTER'S BALL: Due to demand and the fact that we just can't seem to get away from folks wanting to enter male monsters, we've added this category. If its a male, and a monster of any sort (this will include everything from centaurs to wanged demons), then here he goes.

The time for entry submission is over and now we move forward with the viewing and voting for the Total Testosterone II Wyrd Painting Contest.

Entries have been edited, placed in their proper categories and are now up for you to view and leave comments on.

Now, in the past, we have launched into the polls at the same time that we have posted the galleries, but this time around we are going to place the galleries up for view a full day before opening the polls so that if there are any mistakes or discrepancies, you can let us know before the voting begins. Hopefully there are none, but if you see something that needs to be rectified or if you have a question upon, please contact me privately.

When 24 hours has passed, we'll place the voting polls up and you will be able to vote for your favorite three in their respective categories. Keep in mind, in order to vote and/or comment in the galleries, you MUST have a user account here on Wyrd.

When leaving comments in the galleries, please remember to be constructive in any critique, good or bad, and remember your manners. Everything has been set to moderation which means your comments will be viewed by a moderator or myself before being approved for the general public viewing. When you post a comment, it will appear as nothing has happened, only showing you back to the gallery again - rest assured that your comments have been posted and are only awaiting approval.

When the polls are placed (Friday), they will be open for seven days. In that time, please take a moment to vote for your favorite three in each category. The top three in each category will win, respectively 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. Best of Show and Best Base or Diorama naturally only have one winner.

In order to encourage participation in the voting and commenting on the galleries, we will choose five RANDOM SCHMUCKS to win prizes for voting on all the categories and commenting on atleast HALF of the entries. I'll choose out two COMPLETELY WYRD SCHMUCKS from those that take the time to comment on ever entry in the galleries and send random prizes out as well.

Lastly, I would like to say thank you once again to our very generous contest sponsors. All of them have been very generous with their time, product, support and encouragement and it is very well appreciated.

Ok, I feel like a complete idiot, but I've gone in circles at your site and can't seem to find the galleries. I know they're there. I know there's probably a big, glowing neon sign I'm missing. But every time I click on something I think will go there I get text, more text, no links, no pics of stuff....
