try more khaki, sand colors - go for more natural palette than the usual/obvious brown -> yellow -> white combo.
I usually start with some brown with a bit of dark olive added, then through khaki to sand colors and finally ivory/cream. AFAIK Ana uses a similar combo.
usually i start similarily to nmm gold, with snakebite leather being a base (sometimes mixed with a bit of bestial brown) i highlight by gradually adding bubonic brown or straight white to snakebite. final specks of light are made with pure skull white (or vallejo ivory ).
I tend to start with a relatively light neutral brown then highlight it up through a yellow ochre and then to a sandy colour. The exact paints I use tend to change every time as I keep forgetting it and just grab one that looks servicable.
btw, vallejo model series has a bottle called tan glaze, that will turn things yellow. If you thin it down you can give a slight yellow tint if you find it its not yellow enough. be careful with it though!
I do mine stupid elves ...
from different browns to bleach bone, if I am working on a group of blond, just use different comb of brown and sometimes without bleach bone as final highlight but very light brown instead.
