Arctica's Cryx
Re: Arctica's Cryx
but... but... girls don't like men who play with little toys and paint them - that is why I got first married and then started painting miniatures

were you bored with your new wife?

Re: Arctica's Cryx
It certainly is true that i have been busy with life and a girlfriend now, but i have also been playing warmachine quite a bit and testing lists in preparation for the new league starting up mid March
i will update again tonight after i do some more
I am managing some time to paint, but i will be in the UK for about 10 days starting next week
EDIT: rather than double posting, i'll just edit this one. So progress is going well but the deathjack is just so rediculously detailed. Now the top plates i decided not to put as much contrast and highlights on as i wanted to put some freehand design on it, i have some ideas but i need to get it clear in my head first. Then i'll weather it a little bit with scratches etc (thanks Bohun !
) and then i'll add a green glow to sections of the model i hope, so quite a lot of new things for me to try.
Anyway onto the actual WIP pic:

DOUBLE EDIT: i've been playing around the list i was going to use for the league and actually changed it quite a bit, so now for the tale i'll be painting the following models:-
Scaverous- 6 JP
Deathjack - 12
Withershadow Combine - 5
Warwitch Siren - 2
Skarlock - 2
Reaper - 7
Night Wretch - 4
Wraith Engine - 9
Necrotech Solo x 2 for the Tier 1 bonus

Re: Arctica's Cryx
I really like those skulls additions. Is it finished?

Still working on it
i've been on holiday to see my family in the UK for a couple weeks. I just got back to Dubai yesterday but i hope i can get more painted soon.
The skulls i saw on someone else's conversion and talked to him about it, i prefer these to the flat skulls they normally have.

Re: Arctica's Cryx
Ok so here is a quick update, i've been trying to decide whether or not to do a necrotic green glow on the model. But for now there is a freehand script of glowing blue runes which i'll be applying to the model.

Those skulls look superb! Maybe yellow would add nice contrast to the glows? Or light blue?

Re: Arctica's Cryx
Thanks sea man !
i'm really happy how the skulls turned out, they took me ages to do as i kept changing the colour and style.
I did manage to do some freehand, maybe perhaps i'll get some weathering done on the model, but for now i need to varnish it to protect the model as i keep accidently rubbing off some of the paint !

That freehand added a lot to the mini, great work. I also love the skulls they turned out great - mind sharing what colors you used?
Re: Arctica's Cryx
Thanks ! the skulls were painted using this colour recipe:
-Codex Grey
-Badab black wash
-Codex Grey
-Codex Grey with slight bleached bone highlights
-Codex Grey, small amount of bleached bone and skull white for final highlights
Obviously it's a bit more complicated to apply than that but it's the colour recipe
and several layers of each one after the badab black wash.
