Greetings from the cold north

Post by Julgrodan »

Hi folks, been keeping an eye on this forum for a while and I'm really liking the amount of good critique and comments you're giving and receiving. As I'm always striving to learn more and improve my painting this looks to be a good place for me!

I've got a steady hand a pretty good eye but I need to work on improving my contrasts and colour choices. I'm also exceedingly prone to spend hours fixing tiny mistakes that no sane person would even notice. I've decided to stop doing this until I decide I should enter a painting competition again, I'll try to "finish" the miniature at hand and leave the mistakes as they are. They should prove to be useful reminders for later projects, or so I hope!

Little more about me, I'm a calm and quiet swede closing in on 30 years of age. I've never been much of a gamer, the painting and converting is the main thing for me. Living with my girlfriend of many years, she doesn't play or paint but is happy I enjoy painting my "little men". I've been painting on and off for years but only recently decided to focus more of my time on it. Eventually I hope to sell some stuff I've painted, not to make much of a profit but to make my favourite hobby "free" or at least cheaper :)

Apologies for the wall of text, I do tend to get a little long-winded!

Hi there. Just checked your showcase thread and I think the amount of contrast is quite good. Maybe your basecoats should be a bit darker but I think you're spot on with the highlights in most areas.
