The face looks great, the hair looks cool too - unless viewed from the back.
In the photo taken from the back, the hair looks a bit like a shapeless pulp.

True, unfortunately that's more or less the model - it's just a bunch of wavey cuts for the hair.mahon wrote:The face looks great, the hair looks cool too - unless viewed from the back.

Maestro - True, I'm not very good with metallics but then how does one make silver look intresting? Silver is silver, whether painted with two layers or twenty two. I just paint them as good as I can - I'm not GD winner. Not having a go or nothing but I can do no better.

You can make it look a little older or such by doing a base coat of blue-green. It gives it a little of that look if the silver isn't too thick or if the blue-green shows up just a tiny touch near edges. Its a way to do something different without making it darker or dirtier looking (like with an ink wash).KingUlrikFlamebeard wrote: True, I'm not very good with metallics but then how does one make silver look intresting? Just a thought.

The axe head was done with a touch of blue ink and my normal silvers - boltgun, chainmail, mithril. The latter were applied rather watered and lightly in an attempt to let the blue ink show through - not really clear in the pics. The blade itself is mithril silver and skull white applied to give it a brighter and well used look. The gold rune in the corner my attempt at the Rune of Grimnir (according the the Of Stone and Steel book), didn't come out too badly and kinda shows the axe is more than just an axe. It was done via tin bitz, dwarf bronze then shining gold mixed into the pair of them before burnished gold and then a touch of skull white. A tiny ammount of Choas Black was placed around the edges to show it up a little bit more.
And yes... I suck at bases.
I just never know how to do them, this is chaos black followed by drybrushing of codex grey, fortress grey then skull white before small patches of brown were placed (scorthed then besial) and a small amount of dark green static grass to give the appearence of undergrowth pushing through the ground.
Well he's done and soon time to start the next project - this being a Night Goblin Shaman. All C&C welcome and hopefully taken note of for the next model.
