My thoughts exactly, Tre.

edited to add: I have the other two, and will be getting this one as well. I find them quite useful references when I don't have easy access to the internet (like when I'm teaching at conventions), or when I'm at the painting table.

I like the 2008 annual, and I'll be getting the rest as they come out too. Also I hope to proudly have my mini's in the book one day as well. I still post my pics there and I still like the idea of the site, the gallery, and the forums. I am all for what CMON is about and even when I disagree about how Chern is doing things (10k for the crystal brush for starters) I like that he's getting things done.

I don't really get the cynicism regarding submitters getting paid to have their pics in the book. For me I love the idea that maybe someone somewhere WANTS to put a pic in a book and publish it.

Anyway I am really looking forward to getting the book. I get a special charge out of seeing people I have interacted with getting their stuff in the book.

I don't get it why you need to call cynicism to people expressing a valid point of view... I could go and call you all kind of things but whats the point?

For me personally I dont care about these things, neither the money, neither the fact Im in the book etc... Im going to tell you little story...

My company receives every year some invitations in the similar therms... I get selected to be in the uber book of best illustrators annuals etc... ooohhhhh great... now all i need is to prep a small folio just for them, waste time( and dont gain real money from clients works on the table) and then I still have to buy x number of exemplars etc rofl... yeahhh I could be very happy to be in ze book or I could open my eyes and use brains to see its a exploit of my work and I still have to pay for it and waste precious time...

CMON annual is kind of diferent because its a freaking hobby that brings me no economical advantage has little to no relevance... yet its wasting my time and even if he doesnt ask for me to buy x numbers I still have to pay for my time wasted and pay for the book... yes it would be nice a cut ( i would not buy it even if it was 99% cut) but that would blow the sheme... that is use ppl works and then lure them to buy them.
You can call me more nice adjectives if you want and I can just say, wake up

If I wanted to be in a vanity artist wanabee parade I would at least do it in a place that actually involves art.
