if you want to make your NMM gold look like Olivka's you probably got it right. not really gold to me, more like molten orange? but definitely eyecatching.
the rats are super cool. they look so weird and unnatural with these purple faces. speedpainging you say? well done!

the rats look really good, especially the skin, it doesn't look speed-painted at all, very smooth
what happened to the primer job on the dwarf?

Yes, you're right - I love the way Olivka is painting Scibor's dwarfs and I like the 'eyecather' effect. And about rats - yes, they are speed-and-batch-painted. I was painting about 8-10 hours whole group - it means less than 2 hours per model. I know, there are people who can paint one under hour, but I'm not that goodmahon wrote:if you want to make your NMM gold look like Olivka's you probably got it right. not really gold to me, more like molten orange? but definitely eyecatching.

Nothing happened to the primer, just tried to primer as Jarhead & company on Massie Voodoo or Natalya AlexiZ Melnik - black primer on whole mini and then several pffff's with white one, to simulate light source on it...Corvus wrote:the rats look really good, especially the skin, it doesn't look speed-painted at all, very smooth

really like the rats - painting time is just stunning!
Re: What's in progress by Dark Tower
Another small progress on Dwarf General - I've made all the colour transitions as a base for golden parts. Also painted wood and fur on his back with basecolor. Then I finished one of the golden shoulderpads...

Some progress on Scibor's Dwarf General. In fact it's all done except the base, so this is last W.I.P. photo.

Yep, photos of back will be in final photo session. Beard in step-by-stepPandadosmares wrote:Cool work, whats the color recipe for the beard?
Do you have pictures of the back?
- brown basecolor
- added some lighter tones with orange (middle of beard) and yellow/orange mix (top of the beard)
- added some reddish glazes for smoother transitions
- highlighted separate 'hair' with lighter tones of beard
- added almost white highlight to some 'hair' near the mouth
- applied several glazes (reddish, brown) to make the beard look more dark/opaque and less 'shiny'
It's not real step-by-step, because I applied some steps several times until I got it right.
What if the beard is in colour of (comics-and-olivka-like) gold NMM?Maru wrote:shild end axe are in colors of well beaked bread ... not in NMM Gold .. but rest looks fine
