Too bad if Rackham goes that way! I remember a time when they just started and I was thinking about importing and distributing their stuff in the Netherlands. They were so openminded and easygoing and it would be a shame if they'd change that attitude...

Ok, but to be Devil's Advocate for a moment... Say you have a miniatures company, and you have told a painting competition staff that you will give them prizes for items that are your products. Is it fair to other contestants that actually use YOUR products for the competition to give the award to something that isn't actually your merchandise? Also, companies do this to promote THEIR products. Sure, promoting the hobby is good, too, but its a BUSINESS.

They can still take a better approach than GW has with competitions. At least they are participating in something other than their own competition/event. (For instance, Rackham donated figures for the GenCon paint & take event.)

But if they are giving a prize or prizes, or even if its just coming from whoever made up the rules for the competition, you have to draw the line somewhere. GW is apparently just fine with completely or heavily original sculpts. Great. Not everyone is going to be, and its hard as everything to run and judge these competitions and stay reasonable and with a decent reputation.

Sure, there's probably a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes that at least some people here know much, much more about than I do. But to go straight to saying they're going down the path of worst-possible-treatment for customers seems harsh.

Was there specifically a rule ahead of time either last year or this year regarding original sculpts?

if you are refearing to Nephaell(sp) then I am afraid you are wrong. he used several Rackham PArts and sculpted on them...

if you were talking about another mini can you please tell us which one you mean?
