Muwattalis

Post by Naoned »

Hi everyone,

It's my 1st historical figure and my 1st piece > 30 mm scale. It's 65 mm to the eyes.
I painted it with acrylics and oils. Hope you'll like it ! All criticismes are welcome.

Welcome on Forum :)
i see you handle the 65nn scale better then you 30mm minis (checked on CmoN :))

the part that stands out is blue fabric - looks unfinished compared to the purple / skin
gold metal is mettalicks + oil paints or some other tech ??

I really like the way you dealt with light on his face and the purple cloak.

Maru is right about the blues - they're not as good as purples. They seem to be lacking some of the richness and shadows.
I am also afraid that the dust on the shoes is a bit too strong and using a bit less of it would make the shoes look better. Now it completely covers the paintjob there...

Not sure about the light on his left forearm... looks a bit too strong for me. It's about as strong as on his face, while it seems it could be a bit weaker...
Might be the photo though...

Yeah, the blue is popping out too much, especially that it should be in the shadow of the outer cloak.
But besides this, I really like your paintjob. As said already before, the purple is superb.

Hi, this is a cool paintjob :)
Especially I like the head.
If I was to correct anything it would be to pull the shadow on the end of the violet cape higher and make the transition to the dark slower. I like how you put the light on the shoulders.
Unfortunately the blue fabric looks to me like you had no idea for higlighting :? I would give him a direction.

I agree with the comments above but I'd also like to see more highlites on the scale armour, it looks too dark to my eyes.
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again
