Annnnnddd... they're done!! Yay!!

Ok, yes first unit of orcs are complete. And quite nice they are if I may say so myself; ;)

The flesh was done over four layers or so, a dark angels and snot mix followed by a green ink wash. Then highlighted by pure snot green and once more with snot and goblin mix before the final layer of goblin for top highlights.

The clothing I can't really give details to as it varies. Using a limited colours of brown, black and grey I have a kind of haphazard look to them but still gives a sense of unity (hopefully). Colours used have been all the browns including brown ink, chaos black, codex grey and fotress grey.

Metallics; again throughout the unit these have varied. The base has always been boltgun metal, mainly due to the fact it's the darkest metal available, then this has had inks mixed into it and/or Chainmail in hopes of creating a mix dark enough to not look clean. IMO the best weapons are on the back four orcs, this has no black ink but instead used only brown.

There are a few models that have a head hanging from their belts, two are painted in a slight pale flesh tone using most flesh colours but adding rotting flesh into the mix. The last I dedcided to do differently, I washed it with a watered down green ink and added some to the flsh tones to try and convey a decayed look. It actually looks quite rotten but I'm unsure if the pics do them justice.

And finally the bases; sand with a base of scorched brown then drybrushed codex grey followed by fortress grey. After tidying up a final touch of dark green static grass was added.

In all something I am quite proud of.

Now for soemthing else. As some may know I have been doing the orcs for a Tale of X Gamers, at first it was a good idea but now I feel I cannot continue with it. I find doing the same unit for an entire month or more slightly disheartening and so I've decided to drop out of it. But fear not! The greenskin army will grown but more slowly as it will have to contend with my attention along with my other two - Dwarfs and Space Marines - as well as doing special characters or random models/units that catch my eye.

So they will be continued but not one after another, there will be a lot of stuff between units I expect. Look out for updates on the army and other stuff soon, I'll be starting another model tomorrow.

whole army painterd in such standard would look impressing on the battlefield; well done! :D
it's a pity the tale in origilal formula has fallen apart but maybe "army diary" will work well...
