Games day Baltimore 2010
Re: Games day Baltimore 2010
I agree that a lot of the best US painters don't care so much about GDs anymore. Jen Haley hasn't competed in several years, for instance. Neither has Marike Reimer. With them offering better prizes at other competitions and condensing down to just one GD that is pretty far away from a lot of people (6 hour flight from California to Baltimore, for instance), they're getting less and less of the really amazing painters. Plus the selection of things to paint has really widened over the last few years. Why paint ugly GW stuff for a cheap statue that you have to travel to get to? You can travel instead to Gen Con and go home with cash and products.

what a great discussion and I was missing it for such a long time? What a shame. so many good points here...
So you'll have the Crystal Brush in Chicago in 2011.... $10K to be taken...
Americans don't need to care for GDs anymore...

I might go to see it and lots of friends, but I won't compete. I'm not that level of painter.
