Re: Painting Faces?
Are the highlights done with wite, I think they could do with toning down a tad but from what I see it's a lot better than my attempts already
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again

Re: Painting Faces?
The face was given a glaze with thinned down GW purple wash, then the final highlight of pure VMC Light Flesh (Pretty neasr white) was put back on the ridge of the nose and the cheekbone. I once heard that the highest level of highlight should be on that area and less so on all other parts of the flesh to help draw focus. so that's the thought. Did it work? Maybe I'll knock it back down once more of the mini proper is filled in. But it's a good point, and let's make sure it's not too garish for the finished product. I'll make sure it's on the checklist to go over before I call the mini done. TY Cyberpaddy!

Re: Painting Faces?
Hey Scott, I hope you don't mind but I worked on that face a bit in photoshop to give you a comparison and maybe a reference.

You did pick a difficult face to paint. For a female fig, she has a very masculin face
The base to get a good face is there, but you need to smooth it a bit. At the moment the cheekbone really draws all the attention, after that my eyes jumped to the nose. So those two areas really jump out, but you want the face as a whole to be the focal point.
In Photoshop I changed the nose a bit. Lessened the highlight on the nose-bridge and focussed more on the tip and nostril. I've put a little HL on the upper lip, the eyelid and near the eyebrow. Around the jaw I made the transition from HL to shade a bit smoother. Just a few touches that will make this face look different already.
BTW the are around here eye screams for make-up. Eyeshadow is what women put there I believe

Re: Painting Faces?
I wondered what's going on on her cheek. Is it a warpaint? Or just rough highlight?
ToMaZ did some photoshopping which explains a lot. Thanks for this. Unfortunately the face is far from being a nice sculpt so some serious corrections with painting are necessary to make it look like a female face at all.
Which it lacked was smoothness. Try getting it smoother and it should be much better.
Thanks TMZ!

Re: Painting Faces?
Okay! That's great stuff. Cyberpaddy was bang on then. I really, really appreciate the work in photoshop Tomaz. Thank you kindly. That's something I can take care of and maybe post today (I am ona holiday from work today). Awesome beans.
The make up, I was thinking that it might be a good idea. I might add it at the end, I just wanted to work on painting the face up first before adding any kind of tricks to it. Also as my mind is not made up on how I am painting the clothing of the mini I should wait until I get that sorted out too.
Ty gang!
