The diorama isn't bad. The mud doesn't do it for me, sorry. Of course it is dirty, but I think a little more of 'wet' and 'sticky' look would make it better.
And the plinth is just bad. Do the diorama a favor and paint it. Green, brown, black, whatever... Just don't leave it this way!

the mud was covered with half glass of damn shiny water effect - I have no idea why doesn't it want to become glossy
I also painted it with glossy varnish
and I'll paint the wood black...

I wish demi, that you would make a tutorial with photos how do you make bases with such great mud effect. For me it works really well!
