Yeah, they're not pinned. My drill bits are all broken and bills mean I cant get new ones until next year.

I know the pain, really...
Yet it's not the reason to blame the cat!

Why the salt technique didn't work?

So I did the basecoat of metal with the Army Painter Platemail Primer. After that was a healthy layer of GW Purity Seal. Then hairspray, then the blue. So when I went to do the chipping it would either take off all the paint down to the bare metal, pull off too much paint or remove the blue but leave essentially a glaze of blue over the metal part. I've been watching videos on this technique trying to figure out what I did wrong, but for now parade ground clean is fine with me.

I might revisit it when I finally paint my Cryx, but then I want to do them monochrome, and I'm not sure how that would look.

I have never heard to use purity seal before hairspray. I did a test with salt technique and I worked as expected.

I got the version I used from a bolter and chainsword poster called DV8.

Last night just felt like I couldnt do anything right. The paint was either too thin or too thick. My brush started to V. Trying to paint the white parts and white paint would end up everywhere, including areas that were no where near what I was painting. Powered through, but it took a lot longer than it should have.
