Man O'War

Do you still remember that some people use miniatures for gaming?

Man O'War

Post by endrem »

Is there anyone who tried this old GW game?

I have a Dwarf fleet and some other ships, but I have only played 2 games so far, as there are only a few people with fleets out there.

It is a fun game... goes quite quickly, the rules are simple, but still provide enough flexibility to make the game interesting. Unfortunately it is difficult to get the rulebooks, boxes and figures as they are not produced anymore.

I did! I did! I think they transferred some of the concepts fairly well too BattleFleet Gothic - which is also very cool...

Man O War is really cool but I don't have any fleets. I would love to play it because the games are fairly quick and I love the idea of "wheeling" to turn the ships...

as for Battlefleet Gothic - we used to play on a floor, and we still ran out of space for turning our ships - they are pretty unwieldy and the game is fantastic. Simple but really great. I think it's one of the best GW games at all!

I so loved this game!!! :D I had a Dark Elf fleet and my brother had Bretonnian. We played with some other guys who had about all the fleets but suddenly they had sold everything and stopped playing!

The worst thing is that they did not even sell it to me!

I only played with the "default" fleets - was it Empire & corsairs? or Empire & Bretonnia?

but all the races had some cool stuff, really cool!

I would have to start off with something to stand for ships :(
And talk Ana into playing against me

The fleets are pretty difficult to buy these days (ebay only?) and cost a bit...
But the game seems to be worth it!

Yes, I think you can get minis only on ebay, and therefore for quite high prices. Once I saw a box of three of Dwarf Balloons going away for over 30 pounds! Crazy. I have a full Dwarf fleet though and some other Chaos, High Elf and Bretonnian ships. Unfortunatley I haven't played for a long time now...
