I think it does
Not too complex, not too simple/flat. Will surely do it

1. what's the scale?
2. check some pics of real wooden ships
3. is your viking sculpt a historical or fantasy model?
combine 1, 2 and 3 and you'll get my point. it looks good, but I'm not sure if the texture is realistic. I don't really mind it, just saying.

30mm, rather fantasy model
I saw many pics of wood and vikings ships. Tried to sculpt it as good as I could.

ok, here's a pic of "real" viking ship. not sure how real, but it's from some museum exhibition.
wooden planks are in fact smooth. of course, the surface might not be absolutely flat (I doubt it is), but you can't see it.
now, the way you sculpted it is a fantasy approach. check out this gw chariot

Yes - I tried to do it with texture - so it may be easier to paint. I think that in 30mm it's a better choice (just my opinion).

is it easier to paint it? yeah, I guess so.
is it more realistic? hell no
Do I mind it? as I said earlier - no. it's the matter of approach.

texture is way too deep - looks nice as a sculpt. after painting will look strange.
