Smooth painting and very interesting bases!
I think that the necromancer could use a bit more contrast :)

Your bases look great but why do you build them on a gaming base? Why not use a display plinth? Will look better and makes it easier :)

Unless of course you are going to enter these in a Golden Demon contest...

Thanks for the responses! I don't intend on entering these models into Golden Demon, but I wanted to start to practice building bases like this for when I do want to try and enter something in the contest, so really its just for practice. :)

Not yet, I'll be finishing two of the Eldar commissions soon, and then I'll get one of my own done as a relaxation piece.

University work, work work and the flue over the last few days hasn't given me much time for painting which sucks. Having said that I have been working on the commission pieces whilst at home sick, so some things ought to be finished over the next week.

Thanks for asking :)

I like these a lot, the bases are nice, in particular the necromancer's base. I think the best thing about your models is that you use a fairly muted palette but mix in brigh vivid colours too. It helps put more focus on certain parts, like you did with the marine and his body and helmet. But i feel some more interesting or characterful models would test your skills a lot more than just standard marines etc.

Here's a few photo's of a Corsair Prince I was asked to paint. He's been given a light spray of varnish as he's going to be used in games, hence the slight shine in the pictures - I did use dull coat on it too, but it didn't get rid of the shine completely.

The base is simple as per the clients request, he wanted it to fit in with his current army models and their bases. The model was Finecast and sent to me primed and assembled, I did my best to clean it up but it was rough to say the least, so I did my best to smooth things over with the paint but some areas were bound to look rough no matter what I did. Short of buying a new model for him, I did as best I could to make it look half decent!

Let me know what you think guys n gals - I always love getting constructive criticism, it is after all how we grow.

Peace and happy painting,

Axel.

Very good one. The contrast on the cloak and armor is very good. Colors suit together. Very solid paint job!
