Re: Invasion of a kraut
Thanks for your comments.
Well here are my three latest projects. First the pictures then the talk. Here you go:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1102567977 ... 3454/Hexer#
https://picasaweb.google.com/1102567977 ... 4/Nurgling#
https://picasaweb.google.com/1102567977 ... 3454/Pirat#
The wizardy guy and the wee nurgle one were fast projects and the pirat took a bit longer. Well for the wizard I tried to paint textures on the clothes...I kind of like how it turned out. The nurgle was a present for a friend, painted in 4 hours. I really like the horns and the eyes. The pirat was a practice mini for finelining...well it's more thicklining then finelining...got to practice moooooooore...but seeing the contrast grow during painting the pirat stimulated me so much I had a nerdgasm.
A friend helped me out with his camera to take the pictures. They are better than my usual ones, but we still have to practice. So they are not crappy anymore I think, but still not so good.
Well hope you like them. Any critics are welcome, especially constructive ones.
Cheers

Re: Invasion of a kraut
The Hexer is my favorite of the three. Great job on the choice of colors, contrast on the robes looks terrific and the blood splatters are very well executed. I'm not a big fan of the base though, not sure what that chocolate fudge in the corner is supposed to be . The pillar looks a bit plain. What is it made out of? Maybe you could have chipped off some here and there to create more texture?
The Nurgling looks a bit plain and simple but the zenithal highlighting you did on him really kicks ass! The base could use some more detailing, like some plants or something.
The pirate obviously took the most work. Great job on the base, but the wood lacks a lot of contrast in some places, like the back of the cupboard. The front on the other hand doesn't have this problem. I'm not a big fan of the sculpt but you did an amazing job on him: the pants, the freehand, nmm, etc.

Thanks for the critic. Well the chocolate stuff on the base is supposed to be a pool of bloooood...due to my red/green-colour deficiency I can't tell if it's the pictures or if it's real...it's 1-component water with clear red and a weeeeee bit of black ink. The shrunk of it was a big problem, even after 3 weeks it got worse...by now you can see bumps on it made by the heads in the pool...never again 1-K-Water!
I bought the pillar on a convention, theres no name on the package. It's made of resin. Yeah I thought about damage on it but can't remember why I decided against it. But there is some blood on it and a chaosstar painted with blood. Due to the angles of the photos you can't really see it on them...
With the wood of the pirat, its supposed to be a fade-out-effect-thing, which I might have failed...need more practice.
Cheers

Re: Invasion of a kraut
I was also about to ask about the chocolate puddle
But no worries - I bet there are lots of such things in chaos wastes.
