Goals for 2012

Post by Marta »

Happy New Year everybody!!

Any thoughts anyone already?
Or everyone is still heavy hangover?

For me it would be (in a bit random order):
1. Paint more
2. Paint better
3. Explore more techniques (oils, weathering, some stuff used more by modellers)
4. Find a way to do decent photos of my minis
5. Post on my blog more regularly
6. Win some new trophies (plus maybe repeat some of those I got already)
7. Buy less minis;p
8. Develop my modeling skills further
9. Finish all the projects I already started last year
10. Paint a historical piece
11. Socialize more

for me:

1. paint more minis than in 2011.
2. paint at least half my collection of 15mm minis
3. participate in every miniature exchange here
4. paint at least 54mm model
5. try 6mm models, too.
6. sell my Imperial Guard army
7. attend to at least miniature painting contest
8. write at least one (hopefully interesting) post for Chest of Colors site every two weeks
9. socialize with miniature painting community
10. organize my collections (of miniatures and photos)
11. paint more minis than I buy...

11? exactly the same number as Marta had ^^

I have bad experiences with such extensive goal list like you listed here :)

I do have plans for 2012, but I start low and riding on the success feelings it generates to reach those goals, extend them as it comes.

So for a start I tidied up my desk, tada: Image

I'd like to finish a decent 250 - 300 points Infinity group of my Nomads. Similarly I plan to finish a 400 points Confrontation Acheron army and advance with my Orks.

@Demi: whoa! I'd love to get even close to your numbers from last year, I didn't paint even half of it:(

@Endrem: Well, various things works for diferent people. For me making a list of my goals helps me to stay on track, and in some way makes things more official. You know, it's written down, so it's a plan not just a wish;p and other ppl can see it so I'll be ashamed if I won't achieve at least some of it. But I know that for example buying less minis will be extremelly hard... ;p

I'd just like to improve my painting and sculpting and try and paint at least one mini a month to completion. I know that sounds easy but with the Aussie Summer firmly upon us (it was 40 degrees C here yesterday) painting is limited for the next couple of months.
I'd also like to enter at least 3 categories in the Golden Demons and try an better my Bronze in a single miniature category. Mind you, with Kyle, Seb and others floating about it is rather unlikely :D

Well, think I need some goals aswell:

For me it'll be:

Those are the two main objectives:

1. Really need to definitely paint more
2. Work on painting better

Third one is going to be a tough one aswell but if I can get the first one done, this one will be worked on aswell:

3. Finish some of the projects (ToG, single minis)I already started last year (and years before) (not all the projects but I have too much minis on the PoS (Pile of Shame))

As for secondary objectives:

4. Try to start working on a single mini that could be presented on a competition
5. Try to start working on a 54mm mini
6. Try to start painting the sceneries I've built already but are still unpainted
7. Find a way to do decent photos of my minis
8. Explore more techniques (NMM, weathering)
9. Buy less minis (doubt it'll be possible to achieve this one)
10. Socialize more (meaning have more games!)

Think that is going to be more than enough :)

1. Finish my 4 started Mordheim warbands (Witch Hunters, Mercenaries, Bretonnians and Possesseds)
2. Finish my 40k army
3. Stop painting mass of fast-tabletop minis and after couple of years finally learn how to paint
