Ok start of a new thread and project. After learning to play a few weeks ago I got hooked into warmachine and now i am totally excited all the time about playing some more but also painting the miniatures. The guy who taught me how to play wanted to sell his cygnar so as a trade i'm doing commission work on a number of his troll models in exchange for a large cygnar group.
The cygnar i have are:
Warcasters:
Allistar Caine & Epic version
Victoria Haley & Epic Version
Coleman Stryker & Epic Version
Warjacks:
Lancer
Charger
Hunter
Ironclad
Defender
Centurion
Thunderhead
Units:
Arcane tempest gun mages + Unit attachment
Stormsmith tower
Black 13th
Solos:
Stormsmiths x 3
Squire
Arlan Strangeways
Journeyman Warcaster
Gun mage solos x 2
That's quite a lot of models and I have some more to come but mostly just character warjacks. I chose models which i like the look of so that i would paint them, not going to be massively competitive but i think i may add more to get a decent force going. We should be starting a league soon, which i hope i can help organise and start up. Once i've got more painted i might do battle reports etc too So keep your eyes peeled.
For now i've started the defender and I wanted to use metallics as most of you know i've always primarily been a NMM nut so this would help me branch out more and give me practice with metallic paints. Anyway have a look at the wip and as always feel free to comment.

Arctica's Cygnar
Re: Arctica's Cygnar
I like the blue, though, you should perhaps go for a little more highlight to make it pop a little more (just my 2 cents)

Re: Arctica's Cygnar
I agree with Hellspawn. The blue can use a bit more highlighting. The metals look very nice though.
The whole miniature looks very smooth btw!

Well i got a lot of painting done these last couple days i'm happy with the results, especially since i've never had much luck with metallics. I tried to push the blue highlights too as suggested to make things pop a bit more.

I'm still debating as to whether to put cracks in the blue armour plating, and some more freehand lettering elsewhere but i don't want to overload the model with too much detail. Anyway next model will be a Hunter light warjack i think, or epic haley. Answers on a stamped addressed envelope ^^

Re: Arctica's Cygnar
Still not highlighted enough to my taste but it's still a nice painting
Re: Arctica's Cygnar
another tale, that's good
good luck!
the metall parts could be given some more highlighting.

I tried to push the highlights a bit more on this, but i think i might need to shade it a bit darker to make the contrast pop out more, but these are gaming models.

Re: Arctica's Cygnar
I think I'd highlight edges only if this is a gaming piece.
