28mm busts

Post by Corvus »

I had a crazy idea last weekend, but I'm not sure if it has been done before.

I want to try to cut up a regular 28mm figure to create a bust from it.

The idea behind this is to have a smaller paint surface to try out new things without having to paint the entire figure or put time into making a base. I have some 40k figures on which I want to try out this.

So what do you think? Crazy? :bonk:

If anyone can do it you can :D
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again

what are you going to do with the lower parts of the models?
miniatures painted:
2011 - 83, 2012 - 38, 2013 - 45, 2014 - 56, 2015 - 95, 2016 - 106, 2017 - 22

You could create a leg monster ! or replace all your gaming vehicle's wheels with legs  but still 28mm bust is a funny but novel idea :) show us results !

think of it this way: new Space Wolves will come with 44 heads for just 10 miniatures. Also 28 shoulder pads.

So you can create leg-stomach-shoulderpad-head monsters

Ok time to get this thread back on track :D

I've been cutting up a plastic Black Reach Terminator last night. I've made a rough cut just beneath the breast plate and used my Dremel to create a flat surface, slightly diagonal so I ended up just beneath the 'exhaust' grill of the backpack. Both arms have also been cut.

I still need to clean some moldlines off the arms so I haven't completely assembled the bust yet.

I don't think a Terminator is the best figure for this because off the big shoulder pads. This bust is three times as wide as it is high :)
