CofC painting contest

Post by sea.man »

We are a big community, with lots of great painters and well known brand for high standard ;) Why don't we held a painting contest?
With such a contest we could advertise ourselves on other forums (with invitation to take part in the contest) and attract more people to post pictures here. A chance to compete with Ana, Bohun and many others is also an attractive offer (of course if they took part).
Maybe with time some companies would sponsor such a contest with small bits? If not a nicely painted miniature is a great reward in itself!

Together we can think of rules how it should run, i.e.
- each contest topic can be chosen by a voting
- painters taking part in the contest can only vote
- only new entries
- each entry has to consist of at least 3 pictures: beginning, WIP and final effect

To say the truth, I am surprised. Maybe people are simply confused because of the changes on the site and forum?

I would say something more but I am still busy with some changes here...
Generally: the idea is cool, but somebody needs to coordinate the whole thing. Would you?

I am interested, but as mahon said - people are now more occupied with trying to get used to the new site ;)
anyway, contest idea is thrown now and then, but for now noone tried to make it true. this was the case with mini exchanges or tale of gamers too, so I suppose we will have some kind of a contest here sooner or later.
if you want simple, fun contest - well, it will be simple. make an announcement, fix a deadline, give a theme (unnecessary for me), prepare a short set of rules and go for it.
If you want something big though... to get attention of people from around the world, from other forums...with sponsors, prizes... now that's another story.

Well considering the talent of some painters in here, a contest would be a good idea, but some categories/classes like total newb or beginner/advanced/confirmed/expert would be nice cause level is gonna be pretty high
