Predators defenseman Yannick Weber missed his third consecutive game

Postby elvafeng » 23 Oct 2017, o 10:21

The Predators can win at home. That we know.

They are undefeated in three games at Bridgestone Arena this season, but hadn’t found the same success elsewhere until they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 1 0 on Thursday. Nashville is 1 2 1 on the road.

I think we ve gotten better every game, Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. Tonight was more of a defensive struggle.

Here are three observations from Thursday’s win

Predators https://www.nashvillepredsfans.com/yannick-weber-jersey-c-3.html, Flyers engage in low scoring rematch

The Flyers were the NHL’s second highest scoring team before Thursday’s games, averaging 4.33 goals per game. The Predators, who allowed five to the Flyers at Bridgestone Arena last week Juuse Saros Jersey, needed no reminder of their opponent’s offensive capabilities.

Thursday’s game didn’t have the same fireworks, though each team had its share of high quality scoring chances. Predators forward Colton Sissons second goal in as many games, scored on the rush and set up by forward Kevin Fiala, broke the stalemate early in the third period.

Sissons and Fiala each acknowledged Thursday morning that they needed to contribute more offensively. Nashville is relying on its young forwards to provide secondary scoring this season.

Rinne settling in

After allowing eight total goals in his first two starts, Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne has settled down. He has surrendered fours goals in his past four starts.

Against the Flyers on Thursday, Rinne made 28 saves. His teammates strong defensive effort Thursday meant Rinne didn t have to be spectacular to record his first shutout this season https://www.nashvillepredsfans.com/pekka-rinne-jersey-c-2.html, though he made big late game saves to preserve it.

Anytime a goalie gets a shutout, it s a compliment to your teammates, too, Rinne said. I was able to see the puck for the most part and make the first save always. A lot of times https://www.nashvillepredsfans.com/pk-subban-jersey-c-4.html, guys were bailing me out, too.

Lineup notes

The only lineup change made by the Predators on Thursday came at forward, where Miikka Salomaki replaced Pontus Aberg on the second line with Scott Hartnell and Calle Jarnkrok.

Predators defenseman Yannick Weber missed his third consecutive game because of an upper body injury suffered last week, but he joined the team on the road trip and skated Thursday morning at Wells Fargo Center.

Weber is on injured reserve, but could be activated for Saturday s game against the New York Rangers, Predators general manager David Poile told 104.5 FM on Thursday afternoon.
