Session #5 & #6
Friday 15th & Saturday 16th June
Time Spent: 6 hours (72 hours remaining)
Worked on: Gatorman Posse

Decided to just try to get something through to completion, start build up some confidance again. Very low contrast paintjob on them, but I like the dark look they have. Looks menacing :) Basing is complete bar doing the water pour. I'll get a better picture once everything is finished.

Learnings: I'd already learned to write down colour combinations and mixes. This time I think it should be - put the record somewhere where you won't lose it...

That photo is so bad, I think it's the reason everything looks muddy. I have dug up the real camera and taken another one. This one includes the wet bases, although they need a bit of tweaking to finish them up. I still need to dirty up the halbard blades too.

Also, should I redo the eyes for a more humanoid (iris & pupil) look, or is the orange/yellow "evil eye" OK?

I like the orange, it makes them more reptilian :)

Also put this together the other day. Not going to count this against my painting time (as it was never going to help with that!), but I want to share it. Definately still a WIP (needs more highlighting in places, need to tweak leaf colours and need to properly highlight/shade the cobblestones up top) but I'm REALLY happy with where it's at.

I'm going to be putting a Rackham Wolfen Predator of Blood up top - I have a really horrendous picture of the overall setup somewhere but its so bad I refuse to post it :)

On this photo the crocs look much better and their eyes look good :) you could add some watter effects to make the base look more like swamp.

Appreciate the feedback, thank you!!!

This was the point of using those "inverted" bases, and I filled them with Woodland Scenics Realistic Water before this photo was taken (you can kinda see the difference before and after in the two pictures, check the shaman type guy in the second picture - the gleam of it is visible). For whatever reason, it seemed to evaporate, or got completely absorbed by the clump foliage, which now feels like textured concrete! I'm going to have to add some more to it.

Anyone else have this problem with that product? I've used it in the past without trouble, but I did notice the last couple of times it seemed to vanish more than I had expected. Maybe I need a new bottle of it?

IS really a water effect or some kind of still water one?

It's a still water product, which I hope is fine for this - I figured the bayou look needed to be wet and soggy but not free flowing - admittedly, we don't really have bayous in Australia so I don't have first-hand reference as to how they look - or in this case, move.

ok, so it is typical for still water to behave like this :) it evaporates to create this a little bit waved water surface.
